FBI INTERVIEW WITH JOHN FODELL (INFAMOUS SERIAL KILLER).
HELLO, THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR QUADRUPLE LIFE SENTENCE TO TALK WITH US HERE.
Hello, yes it is me, John Fodell, thanks for making the time to come talk to me today, I love meeting with fans! I love my work which is of course killing people and then skinning them and wearing their skin to their funerals, but getting to meet with fans is such an added benefit to the work.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO GET INTO THE INDUSTRY?
When I was six years old, I saw my first dead body, and immediately I knew that that was what I wanted to do in life. Then, a few years later, I was able to murder a dog, which really got the ball rolling for me.
WHO WAS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION?
This is probably such a cliche, but definitely the zodiac killer. The way he operated and led the cops on for such a long time totally changed the game for all of us in the field. Is that a boring answer? I’m sorry I have bland taste hahaha.
NO THAT IS GREAT.
Okay, good.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MURDER TO WORK ON?
I would probably have to say Shelley O’neil. She was this blonde lady I killed and then wore the skin of. It was really tricky trying to fit myself into that role, since she was only like 5’5 and I am 6’6 and a man. But, being able to see the shock and terror in her parents as I lurked in the background of the funeral was truly a blessing.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MURDER YOU MISSED OUT ON?
One time, in the 70s I believe, I had a chance to kill this pair of hikers out in the hills, but couldn’t make it work. Then those guys got mauled by a mountain lion and the story was in the news for like, weeks. So I missed out pretty big on that one ya know.
RECENTLY, A LOT OF CRITICS HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT NEPOTISM IN POPULAR CULTURE…
Oh brother, I see where this is going.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO RESPOND TO SOME OF THE FEEDBACK?
I understand how people could see me and think nepotism is responsible. Yes, my father is the infamous “Cutter Killer,” and while he of course helped me in whatever way possible, I don’t think he is solely responsible for my own success.
SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT THE ATTENTION COULD HAVE GONE TO MURDERERS WITH MORE TALENT–
Woah woah woah. Let me cut you off there. I get that my style may borrow some aspects from my father. Yes, we both skin our victims. Yes, we both wear the skin to the victim’s funeral. But, my act has lots of subtle differences that, in my humble opinion, totally set us apart. For instance, when I wear the skin, I usually add a little cackle right before I leave the scene, whereas my father was mainly silent.
DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD HAVE HAS AS MUCH SUCCESS WITHOUT YOUR FATHER’S HELP.
Who is to say? I think it is impossible to try and put yourself in those shoes. Sure, my father let me wear the skins of some of his own murders when I started out. Sure, my first murder got picked up by the news because of the similarities to my father’s work. And sure, I wouldn’t have become a serial killer if my father hadn’t started dressing me in skins from an early age. But at the end of the day, I am who I am and I’m not going to apologize for being my father’s kid.
I am also not going to apologize for any of the murders, so don’t even try with that.
